Grace Resource Center’s “Christmas in July” Event Needs a Helping Hand
Lancaster, CA – Grace Resource Center has been serving the Antelope Valley for 23 years. Their services include everything from emergency groceries, hot “souper” meals, computer training and much more. Two times a year, in July and December, Grace Resources gives toys to under privileged children. On Sunday, July 20, 2014, “Christmas in July” at The Hanger will once again come to the AV. The Jethawks vs Modesto Nuts game starts at 5pm. What an amazing event filled with baseball fun, face painting, free toy for every child 12 and under plus a visit from Santa.
There are so many ways you can help eliminate hunger and make the difference in the life of a child. Thousands of children in the Antelope Valley have been able for the first time to attend a baseball game. For many children this would not have been possible without the generous support of this community, individuals, like you. Our mission is to empower people to thrive with dignity, not just survive, through training, education, food, clothing, shelter, medical care and spiritual investment. Your generous support allows us to succeed with our mission.
Here are some simple and easy ways you can help.
- Donate a new unwrapped toy.
- The Jethawks game begins at 5:00 pm, tickets are $6.00 each and are available for purchase at Grace Resource Center. Plan an evening with family and friends, or get a group together to enjoy the evening.
- Purchase tickets and donate them back to Grace for our client families to attend the game.
- Become a Sponsor! Go online to www.graceresources.org and make a donation, and a notation that it is for “Christmas in July”.
Kitty and Santa have many helpers to get the spirit of Christmas to each soul. Handmade presents come from the heart and mean so much more.

“I’M A GOOD BOY, I WANT A FOUR WHEELER.
I’VE BEEN A GOOD BOY THIS YEAR. HOW WAS YOUR YEAR?

Santa’s workshop is the workshop where Santa Claus is said to make the toys and presents given out at Christmas. In Santa Claus mythology, the “workshop” is a sprawling commune located at the North Pole or in Lapland. In addition to housing the factory where toys are either manufactured or distributed by the elves, the complex also houses the residence of Santa Claus, his wife, companions and all of the reindeer.
In 1879, Thomas Nast revealed to the world in a series of drawings that Santa’s workshop is at the North Pole (specifically the North Magnetic Pole, due to the aurora borealis being centered around it and the fact that the workshop was on land, properties that at the time described the magnetic pole [which was under the Canadian Arctic Archipelago at the time; the magnetic pole has since drifted off to sea] but not the geographic one). The Canada Post postal code for the workshop is H0H 0H0; the code was issued in 1994. The United States Postal Service recommends mail to Santa’s workshop be sent to North Pole, Alaska, ZIP code 99705.
Each Nordic country also claims Santa’s workshop to be located on their territories. Norway claims he lives in Drøbak. In Denmark, he is said to live in Greenland (near Uummannaq). In Sweden, the town ofMora has a theme park named “Tomteland”. The national postal terminal in Tomteboda in Stockholm receives children’s letters for Santa. In Finland, Korvatunturi has long been known as Santa’s home, and two theme parks, Santa Claus Village and Santa Park are located at the Arctic Circle in the municipality of Rovaniemi.
